What causes mold?
Mold require only 3 things to support its life and growth: moisture, perfect temperature, and something organic to eat. Moisture can come from an improperly vented bathroom, a pipe leak, or seepage in a basement. The perfect temperature for mold is in fact the same temperature that we like to live in. Finally, organic material is things such as wood dressers, wood floors, and drywall.
It’s just a little mold...
Mold can spread very quickly, and can go from just a little to an overwhelming issue very fast. Mold has spores that just like pollen in the air mold can become airborne and take hold in other areas of your home. Mold that grows inside a wall can grow for months or even years before it starts to show through to the other side of the drywall. Usually when this starts you just start to see faint gray spots on the drywall that many people either think is dirt or finger prints or never notice at all. Additionally, the smell from mold can be faint and sneak up on you and you can become used to it until you go on a long vacation or someone from outside the household points it out.
